The terroir
Abruzzo – The cool wind from the Apennines and the sea breezes from the Adriatic Sea create a unique and truly exceptional microclimate. The weather here is typically Mediterranean with hot summers and snowy winters. The composition of the soil mixed: in the hilly areas and on the mountain slopes we find marly-clayey soils, rich in sand and limestone; in the flat areas of the coast, on the other hand, soil with gravel and alluvial deposits. Puglia – The climate is typically Mediterranean with long, hot summers, but constantly influenced by sea breezes from two seas, which cool the vineyards. Here the area is predominantly flat and characterized by brick-red soils rich in iron oxides from the underlying limestone that give our wines great aromatic complexity. Sicily – The dry climate and the warm Sirocco wind, the sea breezes and the different soil compositions create ideal microclimates to grow the different native grape varieties creating an optimal habitat for wines of great complexity and characterized by the typical features of the Mediterranean scrub.

Our wines

Vanità Grillo Organic Sicilia DOC

Our grapes come from Sambuca di Sicilia, a small village in the province of Agrigento where the limestone soil and the Lake Arancio proximity, create an excellent drainage allowing the vines to reach deep down for nutrients and water, lending minerality and crisp acidity to the wine. The high elevation sunshine brings an explosive concentration of aromas, well balanced with a vibrant acidity.

Vanità Nero D'Avola Sicilia DOC

The warm and dry climate here keeps vineyards healthy and lowers the risk of rot and mildew spoiling the fruit. The constant wind coming from Africa also has an influence on the vineyards, keeping temperatures steady and the vineyards ventilated. The Arancio Lake helps the plans to get free access to nutrients and water also during the very drought season and develop a fresh and fruity aroma with a well balance level of acidity.

Vanità Primitivo Puglia IGP

This variety owes its name to its early ripening; Primitivo comes from the Latin "primativus" which means "early ripening". The Primitivo vine is on average vigorous and ripens early, giving medium-low yields. Our grapes grow in the vast territory of Manduria on red and clayey soil.

Vanità Primitivo di Manduria DOP

Our grapes are located between Sava and Manduria, in the heart of the production area of Primitivo di Manduria. The warmth of the sun and the proximity to the Ionian Sea are the most important factors for the production of Primitivo. This land gives life to the typical bush vines, “albarello” of over 30 years old which give to the wine a unique aromatic characteristic.

Vanità Pecorino Terre di Chieti IGT

Pecorino is a fairly rare variety, with only about 300 hectares planted in the Abruzzo and Le Marche regions. Its name derives from the fact that a bunch of Pecorino grapes was traditionally considered to have a similar shape to a sheep's head. The vineyards are situated around the town of Ortona, on the Adriatic coast of the Abruzzo region. Facing west and south west, vines are planted on calcareous clay soils of a medium texture and trained on a pergola system.
